I Like LOOKBOOK.nu

This site is pretty cool. I am finding some interesting looks. But what I am also finding is that trends penetrate into the minds of millions exponentially. So while I am seeing some unique looks I am finding an awful lot of skinning jeans, cuffed pants, and ties with jeans. I mean DAMN does everybody own a pair of skinny jeans now? I am all for clothes fitting but I don't want my family jewels all tied in a knot.

I found this brother, Jimmy B., on LOOKBOOK that paired an ascot with a polo. But once again he has his jeans rolled up. Do you truly have your own style when you follow current trends?

He pairs a jean jacket with a polo in his second look. I think I am seeing an emergence of the jean jacket again, as long as you don't wear matching jeans with it.

LOOKBOOK.nu...AJ a 22 Year Old Guy

I found this new site called Lookbook.Nu, which is basically the everyman's Sartorialist blog. So since the most of else will never be profiled on Schuman's site you can go to Lookbook.Nu and present your Sartorial point of view. I randomly found this guy AJ who of course is sporting some cool polo looks. In the first image he is wearing a vintage white Ralph Lauren polo and in the second image he is wearing Fred Perry. I am not a fan of the highwater pants but it seems to work for him.

Naturally Cool

The image speaks for itself. Polo is from Lacoste.

White Jeans...Are Men Suppose to Wear Them

White_denim2
Stefano Gabbana, the G in D&G, says that white jeans aren't "difficult to comprehend," since they're a variation on a article of clothing every guy is familiar with. pair them with a trim polo and leather belt for polished, fuss-free look.

Notice D&G used a polo because anything else would have been uncivilized, lol. I think the look works, never really thought about white jeans till I saw this image. Guess I will have to add white jeans to my Christmas list.

DETAILS Magazine...Investment Pieces

DETAILS magazine considered this polo designed by TSE Men as one of their Top 10 Investment Pieces. DETAILS describes the polo as unexpectedly refined and supersoft. I might have to check it out.

Cuffed Pants...Give Me a Break

I still don't get how cuffing your pants has become the fashionable thing to do. Frankly it looks a little ridiculous. But who am I to say what is ridiculous when every designer is doing it...Fashion Week pretty much ingrained this cuffed fad into everyones mine. To be honest I tried it out but never made it out my front door before uncuffing my pants. I know this has nothing to do with polos, but I just had to get this off my chest. Here is a look from DSquared employing the infamous cuffed look.

Sorry to my Few Followers

Sorry fans. It has been over a week since I last made a post. Writers block is the main reason for this abbreviated sabbatical. For the past week every time I went to make a post I just couldn't figure out what to type. I was starting to get very frustrated because when I started the post my intentions were to make at least 1 post a day. So I finally said "Enough is Enough." I had to write something to get back on track because I have just scratch the surface of the multi-layered world of polos in fashion. So tune in friends because I am here to stay.

Ralph Lauren...Fashion Week

Ralph Lauren is the embodiment of classic Americana. I have been a fan for many years. I just need to make a few more dollars so I can get into some Purple and Black Label. I love how Ralph layers and makes a casual look formal and comfortable at the same time. I also had to show the midnight blue tuxedo because if I could do my wedding over again that's what I would wear.

Michael Kors...Fashion Week

No sleeves...um not sure about this one. I love Michael Kors on Project Runway but when it comes to men's fashion not a big fan.

Tommy Hilfiger...Fashion Week

Ever since I graduated from Middle School, I pretty much left Tommy behind too. I mean we all remember how Tommy was adopted by hip hop before the explosion of urban wear (although we all seem to forget about Karl Kani). His collection doesn't offer anything new, but here are some interesting looks.

There must be something about bigger buttons on polo shirts. I saw the same thing in the Michael Bastian collection.

Band of Outsiders Spring 2010 Collection

I don't know if the photo is playing tricks on my eyes or is the pocket really on the wrong side. Either way I think the pocket placement is very interesting...at the very least it catches your eye.

The polo with the gray suit just looks beautiful to me. I can wear it to work and to the 40/40 Club.

Michael Bastian 2010 Spring Collection

I am officially in love with Michael Bastian. Whether you are going casual or formal, Bastian covers it all. There is a freshness in his clothes that surpasses Ralph and Browne. The only problem is that his clothes cost too DAMN much. I mean the man even said he can't afford to buy his own clothes. Here are some samples from is Spring 2010 Collection.

Fashion Week...Lacoste Spring/Summer Collection

Here are some interesting looks from Lacoste Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. I love the woman's polo dress. The dress projects a sense of sophistication with a little edginess by adding the belt.

Lacoste Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

The men's polo below is an interesting take on the pocket shirt. I love how the pocket just jumps off the shirt.

Mercedes Benz 2010 SLS AMG...Paul Stuart

mercedes benz 2010 sls amg 8 Mercedes Benz 2010 SLS AMG
Although I am a big proponent of casual chic, there are times when you have to step it up. So if you ever see me driving the new 2010 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, you best believe I will be stepping out in some Paul Stuart.

Sartorialist Find for the Fall

Summer is Ending...But Don't Hang 'Em Up

So Fall is around the corner and that means colder weather and shorter days. Does Fall mean you have to hang up your polos? I say NO! Fall just means you layer up or bring out the long sleeves. So don't listen to the so called fashionistas out there that restrict the polo to spring and summer because you and I know the polo can be worn year round. So Hail to the POLO. Here are some good examples from Ralph Lauren.

Searching for the Best Cheapest Polo

I am on the search for the best cheapest polo. I recently visited WalMart and tried on 2 polos, one for $7 and the other for $10. The fit of the $7 polo was not bad at all. Keep checking in as I shop at various discount retailers looking for The Best Cheap Polo.

Dan Won...Esquire Best Dressed Man

My man Dan T. won Esquire's Best Dressed Real Man Contest. I highlighted Dan a couple of weeks ago because he clearly had sartorial instincts. He was featured on the Today Show this morning, if you missed it check it out here. He made out with over $30,000 in prizes, not too shabby. Congratulations Dan T. He also has a blog so if you like his style check it out.

SALE...SALE...SALE

I must say I love a good Sale. Everytime I walk into a clothing store I go straight to the sales rack. It is extremely gratifying to be able purchase a great shirt or great pair of pants and pay less than 50% of the retail price. Just the other day I went into GAP and saw this nice shawl sweater for around $50. I thought to myself, that's not a bad price but I will catch it on sale in a couple of weeks. Why pay full price when you can get 5o% off. I do the same thing online too. Whenever I go to Ralph Lauren site I always go to the Sale items, and without fail there are always great buys. I guess that is the beauty of men's fashion because most items never go out of style. The other day while I was perusing the Lacoste website I came across this great shirt and of course it was on sale...Original Price: $110...Sale Price: $54.99...Never Paying Full Price: Priceless

How Many Buttons is Enough

Most polos I see have two or three buttons. I found this four-button polo and was wondering if four was just too much. I mean if you want more buttons you might as well get a plain ol' dress shirt. What do you think.
